Brace yourselves ’cause a thumping night of hip-hop is set to hit Australia this August. No other than Grammy-award winning superstars Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will bring their stage-tearing This Unruly Mess I’ve Made world tour down under for their biggest national tour thus far!
The masterminds for 2015’s smash hit ‘Downtown’ will blow fans away in Brisbane before heading out to Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Perth will be the venue for the final show of the duo’s Australian Tour.
A little over three years after releasing their Grammy-winning debut album The Heist – featuring worldwide chart toppers ‘Thrift Shop’ and ‘Same Love’ – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are back to life with the global release last February 26 of their official sophomore LP, titled This Unruly Mess I’ve Made.
The album comes fresh from the success of the group’s comeback single,’Downtown’, which they performed at the MTV Video Music Awards last August featuring pioneering MCs Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz and Melle Mel. This Unruly Mess I’ve Made also features collaborations with Ed Sheeran (‘Growing Up’) and Leon Bridges (‘Kevin’).
In an open letter on his website, Macklemore describes exploring the wilderness of America’s Pacific North-West to embrace the recording process.
“I had to figure out how to use my voice again. So, we went ghost. The Irish Goodbye, into the woods, in the dead of winter. We bought a 1985 Suburban, loaded up some equipment and left town.”
Supporting Macklemore & Ryan Lewis this August will be Sydney’s hometown heros Thundamentals. With their jaw dropping live show and groove laden tunes, expect a show filled with eclectic production and mix of easy going, catchy and thought provoking lyrics.
